Retinal Circulation and Metabolism Laboratory
Norman Blair, MD, Director
Professor of Ophthalmology
Investigates the pathophysiologic basis and treatment of ischemic retinal injury that leads to visual loss.
Current investigations include the development of techniques to suppress retinal ischemic injury by improving oxygenation, and using vitreoperfusion to deliver glucose, oxygen, and drugs.
These investigations promise to yield innovative treatments of retinal ichemic diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy and vascular occlusions.
