Dr. Tessler has earned a reputation as a leading clinician and surgeon in the subspecialty of uveitis; he is also known as a dedicated teacher and mentor. The impressive list of papers he has authored – over 165 original articles in peer-reviewed publications – attests to the significance of his contributions to advancing the field of uveitis research and care. He has led important clinical studies throughout his career, sponsored by the National Eye Institute and the pharmaceutical industry. He maintains an active schedule of lectures and presentations for annual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Uveitis Society and other professional organizations. He has been named one of America’s Best Doctors® for many years. He joined the Department in 1973.
