Dr. Wilensky’s contributions as a member of study groups and as a principal and co-investigator on basic science research grants sponsored by the National Eye Institute (NEI) have led to significant improvements in the surgical treatment of glaucoma. He has received continuous NEI-funding for more than 20 years. In addition, his clinical pharmacology research has advanced drug therapies for treating glaucoma. He has been named one of America’s Best Doctors every year since the list was first published in 1989. Dr. Wilensky joined the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1974 and served as Director of the Glaucoma Service for more than 30 years (1977 – 2011). He is board certified in ophthalmology.
