Dr. Leslie Ballard attended medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN, followed by residency in OB/Gyn at Loyola University, Maywood, IL. She completed her Masters of Science from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Following her residency, she worked at Lawndale Christian Health Center as an attending OB/Gyn physician for four years; she participated in the Mt. Sinai Hospital OB/GYN Residency Program, where she provided clinical and academic training to resident physicians. She additionally was on staff at St. Anthony Hospital, where she led bi-monthly third year medical student educational lectures
Dr. Ballard was awarded a Certificate of Valor for Commitment to the Englewood community during the COVID-19 pandemic from Miles Square Health Center. In residency, she received an Excellence in Teaching Award from Loyola University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
At UIC, Dr. Ballard is studying the inequality of Perinatal Health and outcomes in Chicago. Clinically, she is studying the perceptions of post-hysterectomy cystoscopy in Obstetrics and Gynecology, gestational weight gain during pregnancy, and screening for active partner violence in pregnancy.
Dr. Ballard is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
