Didactic Program

Every Friday afternoon, residents have protected didactic time.  The departmental Grand Rounds occur during this time, followed by a rotating schedule of conferences including M&M, Ethics, Resident Didactics, etc.

During this protected time, residents also participate in gynecologic & obstetric simulation in the department’s newly renovated Simulation Center.  The Simulation Center houses six laparoscopic simulators as well as two obstetric mannequins, Noelle & Victoria.  Additionally, robotic training & simulation occurs in the nearby surgery simulation center on the UIC campus.

Rotation-specific conferences also occur each week for those residents rotating on service. Those conferences include:

• Pre-op conference
• GYN Didactics
• Journal Clubs
• Neonatal Conference
• Fetal Strip Rounds
• Tumor Board
• REI Conference
• QI Conference

Intern School also occurs on a weekly basis and is a conference specifically designed to address learning objectives specific to our first year residents.  The additional hour also provides a great opportunity for our interns to check in with one another and share tips for various rotations.
