Gynecology Sub-Internship
The gynecology sub-internship is a 4-week elective focused on full-spectrum gynecologic medicine. Students will spend the majority of the rotation on the inpatient gynecology service participating in surgery, consults, and floor management. Sub-interns will also participate in pre-operative and colposcopy clinics. Two weekend call shifts are included as part of the block. At the end of the rotation, students will be asked to give a presentation on a topic of their choice to the obstetrics and gynecology department.

Family Planning Elective
During the Family Planning elective, students have the opportunity to participate in abortion, miscarriage and complex contraceptive care. Students are exposed to options counseling regarding pregnancy management, medical and surgical induced abortions and counseling for women with complex medical problems. Students will also be exposed to early pregnancy ultrasound. In addition, students will learn about reproductive health policies impacting access to this care.

Urogynecology Elective
On the urogynecology elective, students learn to care for gynecologic patients with urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse. They participate in urodynamic evaluations as well as in-office cystoscopy. They attend the surgeries for management of these urogynecologic concerns.

Gynecologic Oncology
On the Gyn Onc elective, students will see the full scope of gynecologic oncology in while in the OR, inpatient and ambulatory environments. Learning objectives include the evaluation of women with gynecologic cancers, and comprehensive treatment approaches including surgical and medical interventions. Students will gain exposure to palliative care, survivorship care, clinical trial treatment options and radiation oncology, and will participate in all learning conferences include tumor board, pre-op conference, Thursday afternoon talks and resident didactics.

Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Elective
The MFM elective exposes students to the wide array of conditions – both maternal and fetal – that complicate pregnancy. Students spend the majority of time outpatient and are involved in the care of patients with fetal anomalies, chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension, as well as obstetric complications like abnormal placentation and fetal growth abnormalities.
