Dr. Carrithers currently serves as an associate professor here in the UIC Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation. He received his MD and PhD from the University of Illinois and completed subsequent residency and fellowship training at Yale New-Haven Hospital and Yale University. He has provided specialized care for patients with multiple sclerosis and related diseases since 1997.

Research Interests:
Dr. Carrithers’ basic science and translational research program focuses on human innate immune responses in viral and autoimmune diseases and on the development of individualized treatments for multiple sclerosis. The goal of his translational and clinical research program is to develop novel and affordable approaches for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and viral illness.
