Dr. Ahmed Hassan currently serves as the Section Chief of Neurocritical Care here in the UIC Department of Neurology & Rehabilitation.
Dr. Hassan completed the 6-year accelerated B.A./M.D. honors program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2004. He then attended Rush University Medical Center in Chicago for his neurology residency, where he also served as chief resident (2008). He stayed on at Rush and completed his fellowship in Neurocritical Care in 2010, and then joined the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Neurocritical Care division. He is board certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care, and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Research Interests:
Dr. Hassan’s clinical research focuses on brain energy metabolism and secondary injury in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage, using MRI Spectroscopy.
