Research and Teaching Interests: Dr. Blackie’s scholarly and teaching interests include health humanities, narrative medicine, death studies, and medical education. He is associate editor of The Journal of Medical Humanities, book review editor for Literature and Medicine, and editor of the Literature and Medicine book series published by Kent State University Press.

Research and Teaching Interests: My research includes the study of clinical reasoning, the written and oral assessment of clinical decisions, the key features approach (first developed for the Medical Council of Canada in the early 90s and now used worldwide), the hypothesis-driven approach to teaching and assessing the physical exam, and scientific writing.
