Instructional Design

Today’s learners expect to be active participants in their educational activities. The staff of the Office of Instructional Resources and Online Learning is experienced in using the ADDIE model to assist content experts in designing learning activities that challenge learners to apply new and prior knowledge to their current assignments in a way that encourages the development of skills that they will continue to use through a lifetime of learning. Through careful analysis (A) of the needs of the program and learners, followed by thoughtful design (D) and development (D), activities that promote skill in planning, assessment and evaluation, research, collaboration, and reflection are implemented (I) in learning programs to insure that the learners’ time and efforts produce real growth that can be evaluated (E) and documented.
