I was raised in New York and feel at home in the energy of big cities.
I became interested in public health at Oberlin College when I started studying how the social, economic, and political circumstances and experiences of individuals and communities were reflected in their physical wellbeing. I approach public health through medicine because I love talking to people about how they feel and why, and working with them to make and meet goals.
In medical school in Buffalo, NY I was active in the family medicine department and state chapter AAFP, Gold Humanism Honor Society, at local free clinics, and in expanding the school’s LGBTQ curriculum. I also pursued an MPH from Columbia University and studied medical education in the US, particularly histories of activism amongst medical students and trainees.
Here at UIC, I am excited to continue to explore medical education as a site for promoting an equitable healthcare system and meaningful health justice. I love all the variety family medicine offers, but especially look forward to building my skills for practice in behavioral health, sexual and reproductive health, gender medicine, and chronic disease management.
In my spare time I eat and cook as much as possible, make time to do a crossword daily, and consume a wide variety of media. I am committing to learning how to knit, and to bike more safely and gracefully. Can’t wait to keep falling in love with Chicago!
