I was born and raised in Chicago, and I completed my undergraduate degree in Anthropology and pre-health studies at the University of Notre Dame. I then went on to receive my medical degree from Rush Medical College. I chose to pursue family medicine after completing a year of service at a clinic for uninsured patients. Through this work, I was reminded that health involves much more than the occasional doctor’s appointment. The family physicians I worked with sought to understand their patients’ health in the context of their families, communities, and larger culture. It was easy to decide that family medicine was the right specialty for me. I chose the UIC program because I was impressed with its strong dedication to vulnerable communities, its thoughtful behavioral health and addiction medicine curriculum, and the high caliber of teaching faculty. In my free time, you’ll find me going for a long run, watching Chopped, and catching up with friends and family.
