I’m a Chicago native, but I grew up in Palatine, IL. I graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with degrees in Biology and Hispanic Studies and eventually returned to Chicago for medical school at UIC (go Flames!). My experiences as a youth counselor at my church and traveling to/studying in different countries have opened my eyes to how specific cultural profiles can affect an individual’s health. Family Medicine physicians go beyond the medicine to establish long-term relationships that provide not just physical but also mental and emotional support. I chose UIC-FM because there is a very strong presence of social justice heroes, empowering patient advocates, and all-around diverse human beings with unique journeys! Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and my dog Yoshi. I also love to hang out with friends & family, travel, cook, and make music. Like many others, I recently took up gardening during Covid-19 quarantine.
