I was born in Chicago but moved early on to Atlanta. I attended college in Nashville after which I was itching to get out of the south and moved to Philadelphia for medical school. I am passionate about health equity and access for people experiencing homelessness. While in medical school,I worked with a Housing First program providing street outreach, health care, and housing for people experiencing chronic homelessness, and also directed a free advocacy-oriented clinic at the city’s largest men’s shelter, which both confirmed my desire to enter family medicine. The family doctors I worked with were the truest advocates for their patients. I made my way back to Chicago (after 20+ years) for residency because UIC was unparalleled in its commitment to health equity, behavioral health, and underserved care. Outside of medicine, I love walking around the city, kickboxing classes, board games, bad reality TV, and spending time with my friends!
