The 2023-2024 Third Year Residents

Jane Zhang, MD

An Illinois native, Jane grew up in Peoria and developed an early interest in medicine and dermatology. She graduated summa cum laude from the GPPA Medical Scholars Program at the University of Illinois––Chicago with a degree in biological sciences. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, where she graduated with honors as an Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honorary Society member. She then completed an internship at the University of Chicago (NorthShore) Transitional Year Program. Her interests in dermatology include innovation, dermatopathology, and cutaneous oncology. Outside work, she enjoys playing music, spending time with family and friends, figure skating, traveling, and exploring Chicago.

Samantha Hunt, MD

Samantha grew up in Deerfield, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and received her medical degree from UIC where she graduated from Alpha Omega Alpha. Prior to starting her dermatology residency, Samantha completed a transitional year internship at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. A fun fact about Sam is that she loves traveling – one of her favorite experiences thus far has been kayaking in the beautiful waters of Switzerland. In her free time, you can find her at home with her siblings, and fellow BIG 10 graduates, cheering on the Illini or checking out Chicago’s food scene with friends and family!

Ryan Bunney, MD

Ryan grew up in Northbrook, Illinois and completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois Chicago and subsequently completed his intern year at St. Francis in Evanston. During medical school he spent 10 weeks in Geneva, Switzerland interning at the World Health Organization, where he furthered his knowledge and interest in global health. In his free time, you can find Ryan exploring new restaurants and cuisines, playing soccer, and watching the Chicago Bulls.

 

 

Christine Pak, MD

Dr. Pak was born in Indiana, but was raised mainly in South Korea and Skokie, IL. She is the oldest of the two siblings. Growing up, her parents instilled in her the values of hard work, determination, and kindness, which have guided her throughout her life. Dr. Pak went to Boston University for undergraduate, and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for her intern year. Outside of work, Dr. Pak enjoys spending time pursuing her other interests, which include exercising, reading, and traveling.

When choosing Dermatology, Dr. Pak was fascinated by the complexity and diversity of the skin pathologies and saw it as a field where they could make a real difference in people’s lives. She believes that every patient deserves the highest quality of care, and are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in their field. Dr. Pak is committed to making a positive impact in the world , and to advance the field of medicine in her career.
