Welcome!
At the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital we are very excited to offer an Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship. Our fellowship provides an additional year of training in Obstetric Anesthesia for residents who have already completed a residency in Anesthesiology. The fellowship has been in place since 2013, and has recently achieved ACGME accreditation status in 2019.
During a year of training with us, the fellow will be exposed all facets of care for our low and high risk patient population. We are dedicated to training the fellow to be independent through experience and to acquire skills, knowledge, and diplomacy. The fellow will receive guidance and supervision during patient interactions by faculty and progressively gain responsibilities during the fellowship. Throughout the fellowship, the obstetric anesthesia fellow will learn to foster the multidisciplinary care of these patients through interactions with Obstetrics, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Adult Internal Medicine and Neonatology disciplines. In addition to medical knowledge and interpersonal skills, we also foster technical skills such as POCUS, lumbar ultrasound and simulation/debriefing. And you’ll also meet some great people!
We welcome any questions you might have about our Obstetric Anesthesia fellowship. Don’t hesitate to contact us!!
