College of Medicine Celebrates 137th Commencement

The 137th Commencement Ceremony of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine was celebrated Friday, May 10, 2019, at Credit Union 1 Arena. The College of Medicine graduated, from all of its various degree programs, a total of 353 students.

Of those 353, 306 have met all the requirements of the MD degree program, and constitute one of the largest graduating medical school classes in the United States. The Class of 2019 includes 183 who have completed the MD degree in Chicago; 49 in Peoria, 49 in Rockford, and 25 in Urbana-Champaign. The newly minted physicians will now be continuing their professional training in one of 23 medical specialties, across 34 states. Of those who graduated, 167 are entering residency programs in Illinois.

The ceremony also presented 17 Doctor of Philosophy degree candidates, and 17 Master’s degree candidates – Master’s in Anatomy and Cell Biology, Master’s in Physiology and Biophysics, Master’s in Patient Safety Leadership, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Clinical Translational Sciences.
