
The University of Illinois at Chicago’s Department of Radiology is pleased to announce that Dr. Ron Gaba has been selected as the 2023 UI Health Physician of the Year. Dr. Gaba was chosen from nearly 800 physicians on staff at UI Health.
The Physician of the Year embodies the I CARE values of UI Health: Inclusion, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Dr. Gaba embodies these values through his research, teaching, and clinical practice.
Dr. Gaba specializes in Interventional Radiology, Angiography, and Interventional Oncology. Dr. Gaba has hundreds of publications in refereed journals and has conducted extensive research on transarterial chemoembolization, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), and precision medicine and genomics. He has led numerous clinical trials and has instructed courses for the Graduate Education in Biomedical Sciences (GEMS) program in the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Medicine. Dr. Gaba is committed to delivering world-class care and promoting innovation in the field of radiology.
Dr. Ron C. Gaba, MD, MS, FSIR – Dr. Gaba completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Northwestern. Dr. Gaba has been part of the UI College of Medicine faculty for 14 years as both a physician and professor. Dr. Gaba currently has multiple positions at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, including Assistant Dean for Joint Degree Programs and Student Research, Section Head of Interventional Radiology, and Vice Head of Research for the Department of Radiology.
