We collaborate with the University of Illinois Institute for Patient Safety Excellence to improve patient safety at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. Participants rehearse rare and high-risk processes in simulated settings, helping to reduce medical errors and ensure high quality patient outcomes.
· Hospital staff practice full disclosure of adverse events with standardized patients.
· Interns demonstrate procedural skills on task trainers before performing the procedures on patients.
· Residents prepare for their critical care rotations by drilling on mannequin-based advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) scenarios.
· Rapid Response teams in the Medical Center learn to stabilize patients in deteriorating clinical situations through mannequin-based simulations.
