Pavan Srivastava MD:

  • Hometown: Chicago, IL
  • Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago
  • College: UIC (not a typo - I am apparently loyal to a fault, though, I am hoping to put all these years toward tenure or something, as I think I have been here longer than the majority of our attendings - notwithstanding aziz)
  • Career Plans: to be determined, though leaning towards primary care or hospitalist work at the moment; if i were to specialize i would favor the pediatric subspecialties
  • Interests: sports (football, baseball, basketball), movies, food, and i should be learning to play an acoustic guitar i bought that has been collecting dust

Aziz Valika MD: University of Illinios at Chicago

  • Hometown:  West Dundee, IL
  • Medical School:  University of Illinois at Chicago (Since undergrad, actually.  Going on my 9th year.  Naturally, I expect to have a wing in UIH named after me by the time I'm done.)
  • Career Plans:  I am a true Med-Peds'er, in the sense that I still like everything (or am extremely indecisive, take your pick).  Currently torn between academic primary care and subspecialties - particularly Nephrology and Pulmonology.  Concerning subspecialization, would love to potentially find a niche in transitional medicine caring for chronic congenital kids like those w/ cystic fibrosis or chronic kidney disease, if such a niche presents itself.  We'll see which way I go...
  • Interests:  Personally, I like vacation time.  Other things that interest me (aside from Med-Peds, of course) include living in the city, biking and walking in the city and near the lake, and eating at all those fine city restaurants.  I love movies, all kinds, reading books, and occasionally making an effort to learn how to play my keyboard.  I enjoy playing cards, board games, and playing with (and doing spontaneous physical exams on) my nephews and two new nieces, whenever I get the chance.  I love participating in any and all sports, from skiing to table tennis to basketball.  I love photography, live music, and going to the theatre - though in all honesty I have had little time and money for any of those.  Basically, you name it, and I'm up for it.
