Rachel Caskey, MD, MaPP is the program director for the MedPeds residency program, an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Internal medicine, and a health services researcher. Dr. Caskey attended Jefferson Medical College for medical school and University of Michigan for residency and served as the MedPeds chief resident. Dr. Caskey completed a health services research fellowship at University of Chicago, where she also got a Master of Arts in Public Policy. Dr. Caskey holds an affiliate appointment at UIC’s School of Public Health. Her research interests include improving national vaccination efforts through examining barriers to vaccine adoption by both patients and practitioners.
Saul Weiner, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, as well as section chief of General Pediatrics. Dr Weiner attended medical school at Dartmouth, followed by a MedPeds residency at the University of Chicago. Dr. Weiner has been an adored MedPeds attending at UIC for over 11 years and his principal clinical interest is primary care. Dr Weiner is a prominent researcher in the areas of access to health care, medical decision making, medical errors, and measuring patient satisfaction. Leslie Jabine, MD has had a long and successful history here at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She attended medical school and completed MedPeds residency at University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Jabine has been a beloved MedPeds attending at UIC for the past 13 years, practicing both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine and pediatrics. She has received numerous awards for her teaching skills and patient care. Clinical interest include the transitioning of care for children with chronic illness into adulthood. As a child living outside the U.S. provided her cross-cultural perspectives on medicine and health. In addition, being a mother of three gives her daily perspective on pediatrics and parenting.
Michelle Barnes, MD is an associate program director in pediatrics. Dr Barnes attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, followed by a MedPeds residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She then did a Chief resident year in the Department of Pediatrics at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. Clinically, Dr. Barnes is interested in community Medicine and resident education. Dr. Barnes precepts residents in the MedPeds clinic. Dr. Barnes is dedicated to medical education and was recently awarded a teaching award by the pediatric residents.
Amanda Osta, MD is an associate program directors in pediatrics. Dr. Osta attended medical school at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, and did her MedPeds residency at the University of Michigan Health Center in Ann Arbor, MI. She was MedPeds chief resident during her fourth year of residency, followed by a year as an Internal Medicine Chief at University of Michigan. Clinical interest include the care of urban underserved populations and adolescent health. Dr. Osta precepts residents in the MedPeds clinic and is very committed to teaching residents and medical students.
