Combined Medicine/Pediatrics

Welcome to UIC's MedPeds Residency Program

The combined residency of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago is one of the longest running MedPeds programs in the United States and has been training physicians who are specialists in the care of both adults and children since 1984. The program enjoys the strong support of its outstanding parent programs along with the numerous resources that our health sciences system avails, including:

-Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry
-Department of Medical Education and the Graham Clinical Performance Center
-School of Public Health
-Center for Clinical and Translational Research
-The undergraduate facilities along with the other professional, masters, and doctorate programs

Additionally, our residents have the opportunity to care for a diverse and underserved patient population under the guidance of invested faculty, who emphasize medical decision-making based on the best available evidence and patient/ family needs. Scholarly work is encouraged with opportunities for housestaff to get involved with basic science and clinical research, quality improvement, and educational projects. We also seek to support and provide mentorship for residents who desire to pursue their own innovations or community oriented projects. Finally, we are able to do all this within the wonderful city of Chicago, where there are always things to do, places to go, and wonderful things to eat. We encourage you to apply and come see if we would be a good fit for you.
