If you will be a summer semester graduate and only have remaining clinical requirements which will be completed before July 1, and your residency program requires a letter of verification, the Office of the Registrar will write a letter, including the College of Medicine seal, stating that you have completed graduation requirements but due to the University’s calendar your degree will not be conferred until the end of the summer semester. Updated December 12, 2008
If you look at the rules closely you will see that the College allows the student to take off one day per week for residency interviews. You are required to get the Program Director’s consent in advance (and some Director's may also require a copy of your interview letter.) If the Program Director has not approved your absence, and reports to us your absence, we will give you an “absent” grade and will require you to retake the experience.
Unscheduled periods (i.e., vacation or study time) may be arranged at your discretion. However, students may not register for electives and specialties between December 20, 2008 thru January 4, 2009. Students may schedule senior experiences immediately following completion of M3 core clerkships.
