Clinical Research
Dr. Herdegen directly supervises the outpatient sleep clinics at the University of Illinois which provides care for more than 1500 patients per year with the sleep laboratory performing 1000 sleep studies per year. In addition, Dr. Herdegen has participated in a number of clinical research trials involving treatment of insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep-disordered breathing including residual sleepiness after effective treatment of sleep-disordered breathing. His current research activities include study of the metabolic consequences associated with sleep-disordered breathing and the effects of bariatric surgery on sleep-disordered breathing.
