Galdino Valvassori, MD

UIC Professor of Radiology

-Galdino Valvassori, MD began his academic career at the University of Chicago in 1960.  He was the founder of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology in 1976.  Dr. Valvassori is known around the world as the Father of ENT Radiology.  Dr. Valvassori has written classic text books, including Valvassori’s Imaging of the Head and Neck.  He has also authored 106 articles in refereed journals of Radiology, Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology, and has been a guest speaker in national and international meetings.

 

 

Louis F. Scaramella, MD has been an active alumnus and generous donor to the UIC Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery for many years.  Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Scaramella began to build what is now a thriving private practice in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. In 2001, the Chicago Medical Alumni Association named Dr. Scaramella the Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.

Purpose:
The purpose of this activity is to provide an update of technological advances that have broadened the realm of radiology and its uses in Otolaryngology.
Intended Audience:
Otolaryngologists, UIC Radiologists, audiologists, interested physicians and faculty.
Learning Objectives:
·         Associate imaging findings with specific pathological processes
·         Use otoscopic and imaging findings for the identification of middle ear diseases
·         Associate imaging with the histopathology of ear diseases
