Some things to consider:

UIC gives priority elective students that plan to pursue OB/GYN as a speciality. Your statement of purpose should reflect this desire, along with an explaination of how the elective you are applying for will help you reach your career goals and how your previous education will help you succeed in the elective.

Visiting elective students are only allowed to apply for 4 weeks electives, and their start dates must correspond with UIC's elective start dates. These start dates are listed below.

Finally, there are two steps to the approval process. The first part involves getting your application approved by our Elective Director. She makes this decision by looking at your application, transcript, STEP 1 scores, and personal statement. If she feels you are not an appropriate candidate for our elective program, your application will be denied. If she approves your application, you move on to the second step of the approval process, which is getting approved by the College of Medicine; so long as you have all of your application materials and are  good academic standing, your application will most likely be approved.
