Tracy Irwin, MD MPH joined the faculty at UIC in 2006.  Since 2009, Dr. Irwin has been honored by her peers as one of America's Best Doctors, indicating that she is considered to be in the top 5% of her field by her peers.

Dr. Irwin was the PI for the UIC site of a study funded by Gynuity, the aim of which is to investigate topical estriol's effects on vaginal health. Dr. Irwin is a leader in global women's health has worked with the MIMA Foundation to provide medical care to indigent women in Bolivia and Guatemala, provided  clinical care in Malawi, Senegal, Haiti and Guyana.  She has formalized a collaboration with Case Western University to provide UIC physicians, fellows and residents to provide sustainable educational opportunities to support an OB/Gyn residency program in Guyana. She and her colleague, Sherry Nordstrom, MD, are currently working with Robert Bailey, PhD of the UIC School of Public Health on an HIV prevention research and education project in Kenya.  

Dr. Irwin is also the Women's Health consultant for Peacecare, an organization that works with PeaceCorps to positively impact global health disparities. Dr. Irwin is Co-Director of the Global Women's Health Fellowship and is the Director of Global Women’s Health in UIC’s Center for Global Health. She was elected by her peers to serve on the Medical Staff Executive Committee of the University of Illinois Hospital.

Research Funding

Gynuity (2008-2010) – PI for phase I trial to evaluate the effects on the vaginal epithelium of short-term treatment with topical estrogen.

Family Health International Bill and Melinda Gates (2009-2010) – Co-Investigator on study of implementation, uptake and attitudes of infant male circumcision in Kisumu, Kenya.

Peace Corps Global Community Project Competition (2011-present) – Co-Investigator for Peace Care:  Impacting Global Community Health through Collaborative Workforce Development.
