Illinois Stroke Institute

Welcome to the Illinois Stroke Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Neurosurgery. Our premier multi-disciplinary program treats specialty neurovascular problems such as ischemic stroke, including vertebro-basilar insufficiency (VBI) and carotid stenosis, Moya-Moya, vascular malformations (AVM’s) and complex cerebral aneurysms. We work closely with our referring physicians who send their patients to our Institute for prompt neurosurgical evaluation and both surgical and endovascular treatments.

In addition to providing advanced imaging technology and physician experts, we make it a priority to give personalized concierge services to the patient and their loved ones at the Illinois Stroke Institute. Consultations and diagnostic assessments are done over 1-2 days, which allows for prompt diagnosis and initiation of treatment. Patient cases are discussed in a bi-weekly multi-disciplinary conference with our colleagues in Radiology and Stroke Neurology. This provides our patients with a consensus-based recommendation from experts in the field which is then communicated to the referring physician.

Our team understands having a stroke and the referral to a large medical center can be stressful for a patient, however we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care so as to make the patient’s experience convenient, comfortable and informative.
