The Neuromuscular Center at University of Illinois seeks to diagnose and care for patients with a variety of neuromuscular diseases. Our specialized clinics assist the patient with the physical, emotional and financial issues created by Neuromuscular disease.
Just as importantly, our clinicians work with neuroscientists in cutting edge research to improve our understanding of the disease process and explore new treatment / curative possibilities. The dedication and collaboration of the entire team of physicians, caregivers and researchers provides the framework to make this all possible.
The Neuromuscular Center takes pride in providing the services for individuals diagnosed with a multitude of nerve and muscle diseases. Our care providers have extensive experience and training dealing with the unique issues that can affect our patient’s suffering. Many times they are able to anticipate these issues, thus helping slow progression or identify the appropriate supportive assistance a patient may require.
The multidisciplinary team of providers, in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA), allows our patients to be seen by multiple care providers each visit, including physical therapists, speech therapists, etc. We are also proud to announce that our ALS clinic was recently certified as an ALS Center of Excellence by the ALS Association.
