Welcome to Hepatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) is on the rise in the U.S. and is often detected in patients with cirrhosis. At the University of Illinois Hopital Health & Sciences System, our specialists work with each patient and make pinpoint recommendations based on the disease’s severity and the tumor’s size and location. Their team solutions may include surgical resection, killing the tumor through heat or treatment with the newest chemotherapy drug.

Some disorders require the experience and resources available at a specialty center such as the Digestive Diseases and Liver Center. In parallel with our focus on unique or advanced diseases, our physicians and primary nurses ensure that each patient receive personalized care. Our goal is to provide a consistent level of care and improved quality of life for our patients and their families. Each patient remains an active participant in his or her treatment. Our physicians help patients to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being. We have a remarkable long-term survival record and an exceptional system for post-transplant follow-up care. Every patient receives expert, individualized attention and a higher level of care.
