"Translating the knowledge gained from laboratory discoveries into clinical applications that help patients has been likened to crossing a valley of death. As a clinician scientist, I aspire to bridge this gap and contribute to the translation of scientific discovery into practical therapy. My clinical practice and basic laboratory have a high level of integration and a common focus. This has allowed me to investigate the biological basis of clinical observations.

In the Corneal Neurobiology Laboratory (CNL), we conduct basic and translational research to develop novel therapies for ocular surface diseases and neurotrophic corneas."
