New Magazine Highlights Safety Of General Anesthesia For Special Needs Patients Undergoing Dental Rehab

Chicago Special Parent, a new magazine affiliated with Chicago Parent magazine, will be publishing in its July 2008 issue an article by our own Dr. Zakaria Messieha, DDS.
The article, titled Five Year Outcomes Study of Dental Rehabilitation Conducted Under General Anesthesia for Special Needs Patients and published in Anesthesia Progress, illustrates the safety of general anesthesia in the special needs population. It has been featured in dental publications both in Canada and the United States. Anesthesia Progress is the official publication of the American Dental Society of
Anesthesiology. The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology is an organization dedicated to advancing the art and science of anxiety and pain control in dentistry.

The May issue of the ACGME furthers the prominent publicity of the innovative Full Disclosure project by highlighting the article “ Full Disclosure” and Residency Education: Resident Learning Opportunities within the context of a Comprehensive Program for Responding to Adverse Patient Events, by Timothy McDonald, MD, JD, Kelly M. Smith, PhD and David Mayer, MD. The article illustrates how residency participation in full disclosure can help satisfy educational imperatives in some of the six core competencies.
