First Place Awards for Three Residents at MARC 2009

First place awards were given to three of our residents yesterday for their presentations at the 2009 Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference (MARC), hosted in Chicago this year by Rush University. Jiten Patel, M.D., a CA-3 resident, was cited for his presentation in the Cardiovascular Thoracic category, titled "27 Year Old Man Treated With Epidural Blood Patch For Subdural Hematoma And Post-Dural Puncture Headache After Thoracic Aortic Surgery". Jennifer Schaffler, M.D., a CA-2 resident, earned top honors for her work in the Education category, titled "The Journey To Full-Disclosure: Anesthesia Resident Education In Accordance With ACGME Core Competencies". And Stan Tovsky, M.D., a CA-2 resident, was honored for his presentation in the Cardiovascular Thoracic category, titled "Does ACE Phenotype Predict Acute Antihypertensive Response To ACE Inhibitors?” Congratulations to these residents for their outstanding performances, and to all 16 of our residents who presented at this year's conference.
Introducing Our 2009-2010 Pain Medicine Fellows

Dr. Ruben Koshy, Dr. Vijay Krishnamoorthy, and Dr. Jiten Patel are the department’s Pain Medicine Fellows for the coming academic year. Vijay is a 2008 graduate of our residency program, and Ruben and Jiten are current CA-3 residents in the department. Congratulations to each of them!
