CareLog Entry Tips
- Fully charge your Palm device at least 3 hours before your initial data entry.
- Test your Palm device with a “test case” entry and HotSync before you start entering your real cases.
- Enter all your cases into your Palm device as you are doing your cases. This will avoid “lost cases” from lost “pink anesthesia records” and/or cases that don’t have records like PCA acute pain patients.
- HotSync your Palm device once a day. This will insure that your case entry is always up to date and that cases aren’t lost from unexpected Palm errors/malfunctions.

Region (applies to OR cases only, not Pain or ICU)
Intra-Thoracic with CPB (AKA CABG cases) – 20 required
Intra-Thoracic without CPB (AKA Chest cases) – 20 required
Major Vascular – 20 required
This includes cases in the Angio suite where an intervention has been performed (not just a diagnostic angiogram.)
This also includes liver cases.
Intracranial – Vascular and Nonvascular – 20 required
This does not include cases in the Angio suite. Intracranial cases are open head cases.
Vaginal Deliveries (AKA NSVD with epidural and/or intrathecal anesthetics) – 40 required
High-risk Obstetrics – exposure and familiarity, but no requirement number yet
C-sections – 20 required
C-section under GA -- exposure and familiarity, but no requirement number yet
Other
These are all the other cases that don’t fall into the above categories.

Trauma – 10 required (includes EEI trauma)
Techniques
Epidural (in the OR or OB) – 50 required

Procedures
All procedures require evidence of exposure and familiarity, but no required number yet. Remember to log in your invasive lines performed in the ICU!
