Introduction
The primary goal of the residency training program is to ensure that houseofficers acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills that characterize the practice of Internal Medicine and that will enable them to contribute maximally to improving the quality of life of the individuals and communities they serve. The program aims to prepare houseofficers to become quality care providers for individuals, advocates for the public's health, researchers, life-long learners and educators.
The curriculum is designed to ensure progressive levels of responsibility in patient care, leadership and teaching, and to fully prepare individuals for the practice of internal medicine. It has the flexibility and depth to ensure optimal training for both primary care and subspecialty careers. In addition, a select group of individuals will participate in the Clinical Investigator track in preparation for academic research careers. The program also offers a Preliminary year of internal medicine for those planning careers in specialties other than internal medicine.
The residency program endorses the mission of its parent institution which has been a nationally recognized leader for more than 100 years in its three-fold commitment to provide excellence in teaching, research and patient care.
