Special and Combined Programs

 

Medicine and Pediatrics

The department's longest standing combined program, medicine/pediatrics is a four-year experience for residents who wish to be experts in the non-surgical care of patients of all ages. These trainees alternate four-month rotations between internal medicine and pediatrics over the four years, satisfying board requirements for certification in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

 

Medicine and Emergency Medicine

The combined five-year residency in internal medicine/emergency medicine is designed for those trainees who wish to complement the breadth of skills in emergency medicine with the depth of internal medicine. Rotating in three-month blocks between internal medicine and emergency medicine, residents satisfy board requirements for certification in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine.

 

Preliminary Medicine

This one-year program is designed for individuals pursuing careers in other specialties. Residents in this program undertake a year of training that is identical to the first year of residency in the categorical program.
