Welcome to the Division of Hematology/Oncology
Welcome to the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System. Our mission is to provide the highest level of care supported by continuous success in laboratory and clinical research, to every patient that we encounter. There are over thirty faculty members that are committed to working together and have established outstanding programs in solid tumors, blood cancers and other non-malignant blood diseases. A strong portfolio of clinical trials in hematology-oncology is available thanks to specialists in breast, lung, gastro-intestinal, prostate, renal cancers, or melanoma, brain tumors, leukemias, lymphomas, myeloma or myeloproliferative neoplasms, as well as in stem cell transplantation. In addition, the Division includes a nationally and internationally renowned program in sickle cell disease.
The program continues also to be a leader in research in hematology and oncology with many investigators supported by federal (NIH/NCI) and private funding.
Our three-year ACGME Accredited fellowship program offers fellows the opportunity to work with a range of hematologic and oncologic disorders in a variety of settings in the Chicagoland area. Fellows rotate at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Mercy Hospital and MacNeal Hospital in Chicago’s west suburb of Berwyn. Fellows are given the opportunity to focus on both clinical and bench research projects under the mentorship of our faculty members. A 1-year Bone Marrow Transplant Fellowship is also available.
