Biography

Dr. Jayaram completed her medical degree in India after which she did a research fellowship in Immunology and Infectious diseases at Weill Cornell Medical Center in the Department of OB/GYN. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, NY, where she was awarded the “Resident Teacher Award” for two consecutive years during her training.  After graduating from residency, she did her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  She also did her Masters in Biomedical Sciences during her fellowship and defended her thesis on “The role of TNF-alpha in triggering natural killer cells mediated  mitochondrial dysfunction in pregnant rats” at the University Of Mississippi Medical Center.  During her fellowship, Dr. Jayaram  organized and implemented the didactic curriculum for the fellows and she has given multiple lectures to the medical students, residents and fellows throughout her medical training. Dr. Jayaram’s primary area of research is understanding the pathophysiology and immunology of Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and future maternal cardiovascular disease.  She will be taking care of all high risk pregnancies with a focus on mothers whose pregnancies are complicated by hypertensive disorders. In addition to hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, she also takes keen interest in prenatal diagnosis and management of fetal anomalies, Doppler studies and fetal echocardiography. She joined our department in 2020 after graduating from fellowship. Dr. Jayaram is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. Jayaram is multilingual and is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam and basic Spanish.
