Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) Heading link
CAWC is committed to ending domestic violence. The agency works for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy. Using a self-help, empowerment approach, the agency provides shelter for women and children affected by domestic violence. Additional services include counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline.
H.O.M.E. – Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly Heading link
H.O.M.E. is the only nonprofit agency that provides both housing and housing support services to low-income seniors in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods.
H.O.M.E. is committed to improving the quality of life for Chicago’s low-income elderly. Their mission is to help seniors remain independent and part of their community by offering opportunities for intergenerational living and providing other services that help seniors.
Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS) Heading link
The Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS) is comprehensive social service agency serving adult men and women who are experiencing homelessness. Located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, the LPCS has been providing shelter and other basic needs to our homeless neighbors for 25 years. Today, the LPCS provides interim housing, meals, and a targeted array of social services to over 300 people each year.

Project VIDA’s mission is to improve quality of life and reduce health disparities in underserved communities by promoting self-empowerment and providing holistic health education and direct services. Project VIDA began in 1992 as a grassroots effort to serve the minority communities of North and South Lawndale being disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS. Through this effort the organization has grown to include both STI/HIV prevention programs and direct care services for individuals living with HIV as well as a community behavioral health program and wellness center offering massage, acupuncture and herbal therapy. Their principal service area is the southwest side of Chicago encompassing the neighborhoods of North Lawndale, South Lawndale, Brighton Park, Archer Heights as well as the towns of Cicero and Berwyn.
Syrian Community Network (SCN) Heading link
The Syrian Community Network (SCN) was established by a diverse team of community members with intentions to aid and to assist in easing the resettlement of Syrian refugees. SCN is prepared and organized to support the anticipated influx of Syrian refugees scheduled for resettlement in the Chicagoland area. SCN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that will supplement efforts on helping the refugees adjust to their new home. What distinguishes SCN from other organizations is that it wants to facilitate building the bridge for mutual support between the newly arrived Syrian refugees with local Chicago communities.
