The State of the Cancer Union took place on April 24, 2015, at the Chicago Urban League, and featured commentary on Family History and Cancer: Moving Beyond Our Genes, by Dr. Rick Kittles from the University of Arizona. The event also recognized DonaLynne Schaffer and Bishop Larry Trotter for their work in the cancer community.

Thursday, April 23, 2015, the University of Illinois Cancer Center represented the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Legacies and Leaders, where Cancer Center staff Chris Gay and Dawn Smith, and UIC College of Medicine's Michael Wesbecher, provided UIC alumni and faculty with highlights and examples of current research happening in the UI Cancer Center.
