The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation at UIC provides a gateway to neurological and rehabilitative patient care, research, and education and training of health care professionals in the neurosciences.
The Department is nationally and internationally recognized for many of its programs in patient care and research. The programs are organized into specialty clinical and research units designed to address major neurological and rehabilitative challenges. We provide high-level outpatient consultative expertise for neuroscience disorders such as stroke, neuromuscular diseases and electromyography (EMG), epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG), cognition and memory, traumatic brain injury, cognitive rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, headache, dizziness and other general neurological disorders, and rehabilitation of neurological, neurosurgical and orthopedic patients. Our hospital inpatient services are geared to provide care in all neurological specialties through specialized programs in neurological critical care, stroke and general neurology.
Through our patient care and research programs, we network with many hospitals in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. As an important member department of the largest medical college in the US, we train medical students, residents and fellows to meet future patient care and research challenges in neurology and rehabilitation. We strive to provide the highest possible level of patient care, research and training in the neurosciences.
