The Department of Neurology runs a dedicated Headache clinic once a week (Thursday 1PM~4PM) under the direction of Dr. Rana Mafee. In this clinic, we evaluate and treat common headache disorders such as migraine and tension type headaches. In addition, we also identify rare Headache disorders that might not be readily recognized.
Outpatient IV infusion services are available to treat acute and refractory headaches, and inpatient services serve as an option for highly refractory and chronic headache cases. Biofeedback Services and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are also available at UIC through the Department of Psychiatry, and we work closely with those services when appropriate.
