Center for Stroke Research

The Center for Stroke Research (CSR) in the Department of Neurology at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago is a nationally and internationally recognized research unit for the study of stroke epidemiology, prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and quality of care outcomes.  The CSR has a substantial track record for the conduct of large scale stroke clinical trials and management of complex epidemiological data bases. The CSR been one of the world leaders in the study of vascular cognitive impairment based on the successful conduct of studies of risk factor elucidation, prevention, treatment, development and validation of diagnostic criteria and advanced neuroimaging in this field. The CSR now has added a MRI division and an outreach into the area of brain injury and recovery with special emphasis on traumatic brain injury.
