Dr. Venkatesh Aiyagari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation and the Co-Director of the Neurosciences Critical Care Division.

Dr. Aiyagari received his medical degree from Calcutta Medical College, Calcutta, India. He completed a five-year Neurology Residency at the National Institute of Mental health and Neurological Sciences at NIMHANS, Bangalore, India and was awarded a D.M. degree in Neurology. He subsequently completed his Neurology Residency at New York University in 1998 and then completed a fellowship in Neurointensive Care at Washington University, St. Louis in 2000.

Dr. Aiyagari is certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in Neurocritical Care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialities.

Dr. Aiyagari’s research interests include osmotic therapy for cerebral edema, warfarin associated intracranial hemorrhage, hypertension and stroke, and outcome after cerebral hemorrhage.
