Dr. Laura Pedelty is Chief of the Neurobehavioral Section in the Department of Neurology, and a member of the Vascular Neurology (Stroke) section. Her clinical activities include inpatient care of stroke patients and outpatient assessment and care of patients with stroke and patients with cognitive disorders including Vascular Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, Frontotemporal dementias, and other neurodegenerative conditions.

Dr. Pedelty is co-Director of the Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry training program. Her research and publications have focused on risk factors for vascular dementia and cognitive decline following stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage, and on primary and secondary stroke prevention, particularly in the elderly.

Dr Pedelty obtained her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago, Illinois in 1990. She completed her Neurology Residency at the University of Chicago in 1994. She was a Javits Memory Fellow at the Boston University School of Medicine and subsequently completed a fellowship in Cerebrovascular disease and Neurological Critical Care at Rush University Medical Center in 2003.

Dr. Pedelty is certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with subspecialty certifications in Vascular Neurology and in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry.
