    As the current chief residents, we would like to welcome you to the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Neurology. Thank you for your interest in our residency program. The residents here at UIC are proud of our well rounded curriculum, which includes exposure to diverse patient populations at three clinical sites-University of Illinois Hospital, the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, and Advocate Christ Medical Center. We have many distinguished academic faculty who emphasize both bedside and didactic teaching, with an extensive exposure to all subspecialty areas of neurology.
    At UIC our residents receive excellent, hands-on exposure to EMG and EEG and spend up to 3 months in the dedicated neurosciences intensive care unit with additional ample elective time to pursue specific interests. The exposure to various sorts of interesting pathology at our three clinical sites provides excellent preparation for a career in general or subspecialty neurology.
    Our residents consistently perform well on the board certification and inservice training examinations and have been successful in obtaining their desired fellowships. We also have the benefit of completing our training in Chicago, one of the greatest cities in the country, and have access to all that the city has to offer.
