Dr. Daniel B. Hier is Director of Physician Practice for the Neuroscience Center in the Outpatient Care Center and is Professor of Neurology and Rehabilitation in the College of Medicine.

Dr. Hier received his MD from Harvard Medical School cum laude. He completed an internship in medicine at Bronx City Hospital and a residency in Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a 2-year NIH-sponsored fellowhip in Neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Hier is certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Hier’s clinical interests include general neurology, cerebrovascular diseases, and dementia.

Dr. Hier serves as Education Editor for the American Academy of Neurology website AAN.com and is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology as well as a member of the American Neurological Association.

He obtained an MBA in health informatics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has expertise in electronic medical records, electronic order entry, and electronic prescribing. He serves on the Education Committee and the Medical Economics and Management Committee of the American Academy of Neurology. He represents the American Academy of Neurology on the Physician Electronic Health Record Coalition.
