Dr. James Stone is a neurologist and neurological surgeon at the UIC college of medicine and hospital, and Director of Intraoperative Monitoring within the Section of Electroencephalography.
Dr Stone received his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1974. He completed his Neurosurgery and Neurology Residencies at UIC (1980,1988) and completed a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG and EPs) and Epileptology in 1985.
Dr. Stone is certified in Neurology, Neurological Surgery, and Clinical Neurophysiology by the respective American Boards.
Dr. Stone has written diversely in a number of the above areas, has about 180 publications and is editing his second book. In 2006 he had an NIH-SBIR grant accepted. He is an international authority on the craniopagus conjoined twin anomaly. Additional particular areas of interest include electrophysiological monitoring of the central nervous system, the physiology of increased intracranial pressure, and the history of the neurosciences.
