Vascular Cognitive Impairment and Memory Disorders (VCI/M) clinic
Dr Pedelty, Tuesdays. Subspecialty clinic working with patients with cognitive impairment due to stroke or cerebrovascular disease, degenerative diseases including Alzheimer Disease, Lewy Body Disease, Frontotemporal dementias, prion disease, and others. We offer comprehensive evaluation including state-of-the art neuroimaging, neurocognitive and neurobehavioral assessments, and electrophysiology. Referral from an internist or other primary care provider is required for an initial consultation.

Neurology clinic
Dr Hier, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Frida afternoons. General neurology clinic with emphasis on treatment and rehabilitation of patients with epilepsy, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, and Alzheimer Disease. Referrals from primary care provider preferred for new patients.

Neuropsychology clinic
Dr Nyenhuis, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Subspecialty clinic dedicated to comprehensive neurocognitive assessment of patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, with special expertise in vascular cognitive impairment. In addition to comprehensive initial evaluations, we offer followup evaluations to follow patients over the long term and assess response to therapies, and are also available for patient and family counseling as needed.

Cognitive Rehabilitation clinic
Dr Laatsch. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Subspecialty clinic focused on cognitive rehabilitation of patients with brain disease including stroke, MS, traumatic brain injury, and dementias. We employ a multifaceted approach to cognitive rehabilitation, including counseling, skills training, computer-based therapies, and also referrals for pharmacotherapy as indicated. We have special expertise in acquired visual disorders and reading disorders.

Research
Research addresses the spectrum of cognitive function, including normal healthy aging, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and cognitive impairment and dementia after stroke.
Education
In conjunction with the UIC Department of Psychiatry, we offer a UCNS-certified Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry (BNNP) fellowship, with an option for a one-year clinical or a two-year combined clinical and research experience.
