Advocate Christ Medical Center Overview

4440 West 95th Street
Oak Lawn, IL 60453

Free parking is available on Keeler Avenue. Go north from 95th Street approximately ½ block. The entrance to the employee lot is on the west side of Keeler.

Three weeks are spent on the Obstetrics Service and 3 weeks on the Gynecology Service. All night calls are spent in labor and delivery. On the Obstetrics service, time divided between labor and delivery and outpatient OB Clinics. On the Gynecology service, experience is divided between surgical cases and the outpatient gynecology service.

Call averages every 6th night with 2 students on call per night. Students should expect to have delivered several babies by the end of the rotation.

Advocate Christ Medical Center is a large community, tertiary referral center. A student choosing to rotate through OBGYNE at this location will encounter large numbers of "normal" or low risk patients, as well as learn from experience with high-risk referral patients. The gynecology services are exceptionally busy, offering a variety of opportunities to learn pelvic anatomy. The student will also learn state of the art technology involved in the treatment of disorders related to gynecologic health.

Students will work intimately with residents during the rotation. Advocate Christ Medical Center has 2 general Obstetrician/Gynecologists, 3 Perinatologists, and 1 Gyne Oncologist on the full time teaching faculty. In addition, there are 72 OB/GYNEs on staff. While this is a private facility, all patients in our department are on the teaching service.

A student call room is available. Students are provided with a meal debit card, preloaded with the proper amount to cover meals for six calls and orientation day. There is a medical library on site. All patient units have access to Medline searches.
